Senior Coach - Solomon Lerner
Posted: 10/17/2004 | Updated: 9/3/2009

Solomon has been with the ICA for nearly a decade, first as a student, and then as a teacher. Still an active tournament player, Solomon thrives in games where he is the lower-rated player, always ready to play up to the strength of his opponent. This ability to perform under pressure is one of his greatest assets, and he certainly utilizes it in his teaching. Students really appreciate his "calm and cool" teaching style, and those who are truly interested in improving their chess will learn a lot from him.

Solomon is also a natural athlete. This comes in handy during the summer program, as many of the students are looking for someone to play a competitive game of basketball with during the sports break. Additionally, he has a unique sense of humor, always willing to laugh at himself and admit a mistake.
