Salnikov Brothers Win March Ostfeld Memorial Family Competition; Hua Family Second, Katz Family Third!
For the second time this year the Salnikov brothers, Alan, and Andrew won the Ostfeld Memorial family competition by having the best combined score of any family of competitors. While it was Andrew who led the way with four points last time with Alan adding three, the reverse happened here with Alan adding the lion’s share of three-and-a-half to the family total (Alan won first place in section four) and Andrew adding three to the combined score. Both brothers are eligible for free entry to the next Ostfeld Memorial scheduled for June 1st, as well as a free entry to a Super Saturday tournament (in which both brothers routinely play), and a Thursday Swiss Tournament in Teaneck. Congratulations to the Salnikov brothers.
The Hua family of son Charles, and father Long, won second place with three points each in the u1600. Both Father and Son get free entry into the next Ostfeld Memorial on June 1st, and either a free Saturday tournament, OR a free Thursday Swiss competition in Teaneck.
The Katz family of Alex, Nicholas, and Joshua finished in third place with five-and-a-half points on the strength of Alex’s three-and-a-half points, and Nicholas’ two points in the open section. All three brothers get free entry into the next Ostfeld Memorial competition on
