Problem of the Month

 

Level 2.

Two cars left city A at the same time and are driving in opposite directions with the rates (speeds) of 50mlh and 40mlh respectively. How far the 2 cars will be from each other in 3 hours if they each will stop for a half an hour rest? Draw a model and show your work.

 

 

 

Level 3

Two cars started driving in opposite directions at 9:00 am. One car is driving from city A to city B with the rate of 50mph. The other car is driving from city B to city A with the rate of 40 mph.  The distance between the two cities, A and B, is 198 miles. At what time will the cars pass by each other? Draw a model and show your work.
