Spring Art of Problem Solving (VIRTUAL)

Hello, I am Gregory Domashenko, or just Greg for short. When I was younger, my parents signed me up for extracurricular math classes like this one. I cannot stress enough how critical those classes were in my success throughout elementary, middle, and even high school. As a result of my advanced math knowledge, I was accepted into the Engineering Academy at the Bergen County Academies. Currently, I am a freshman at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology studying mining engineering.

Over the past five years, I have worked with ICA as an assistant teacher, developing my teaching skills. I also have begun tutoring students one-on-one, so I have plenty of experience teaching and working with students. Classes will be online, however, there will be a high emphasis on engagement (I know this can be difficult with online courses). Whether it be by asking students to read problems aloud, solve questions, or explain solutions, the class will be focused.

Additionally, solutions will be presented in many ways, such as through diagrams/drawings, logic, and/or standard arithmetic. Everyone sees things differently, so it is important to see various solutions! Lastly, but most importantly, there will be small homework assignments so students can practice what they learn in class. These assignments should take only half an hour to an hour to complete. (I highly encourage doing the homework right after class while the information is fresh.)
