Summer Camp 2015 Comes To An End: Sign Ups For the Fall Semester Open! Math Olympiad, Ostfeld, US Chess League!
After ten weeks our chess camps are coming to their customary conclusion. As usual we had ten weeks of scholastic camps in both of our Teaneck, and Fair Lawn locations. Unfortunately, attendance fell from last year’s peak even though those students that did attend definitely had a great time and many signed up for more weeks than originally intended. We also tried to limit the number of prizes per student so that we wouldn’t treat this as a toy store and instead concentrated on making sure everyone participated as opposed to just doing well in categories they only expected to win which made things more interesting for everyone since there was plenty more competition.
We also had ten weeks of Master Camp, both with our visiting long-time friend and colleague from Russia Sergey Grabuzov, and for the last few weeks with our very own GM Alex Stripunsky.
To round things for the elite level players we also had three weeks of Grandmaster camp with legends Artur Yusupov, and Alex Chernin, as well as GM’s Stripunsky, and Sagalchik. The first week was actually a collaboration effort between the ICA, and GM Sagalchik’s Long Island ChessMates to bring the camp to Connecticut which was a very unique and interesting experience for all.
Even though the camp is over as is usually the case we are starting Fall lessons at both of our locations in Teaneck, and Fair Lawn next week! We offer Master Class (minimum USCF rating of 1600 or special permission from Diana) with GM Alex Stripunsky on Saturdays , as well as lesson three days a week in each location (Monday, Wednesday, Sunday-Teaneck, and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday in Fair Lawn).
We are also continuing and expanding our Math Olympiad, and Math classes program with Zoya which will be available four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday in Teaneck, and Thursday in Fair Lawn). Contact Zoya for more info (zoyakoza@outlook.com ).
The first Ostfeld Memorial Tournament of the year is also scheduled for September 27th at Bergen Academies so sign up if interested.
Last but not least the US Chess League is scheduled to begin tonight so stop by the Fair Lawn location to cheer on GM Alex Stripunsky, GM Joel Benjamin and the NJ Knockouts in the first match of the season. For more information, please contact us
